Thank you for reviewing my work. I’m James Clark, a designer and art director from Minneapolis, MN, now living in Seattle, WA. I specialize in lifestyle, active, outdoor apparel and workwear. I’ve been a mixed media designer since the late ’90s/early ‘00s working in-house, freelance, and with small agencies on a multitude of diverse projects.

Most recently, I’ve spent the last 2 years with the talented team at Dickies as a digital designer and art director, working on a variety of digital and print projects. If you want to learn more about where I’ve been and what I’ve been working on, visit my about me page. Additionally, I try to journal my ramblings and design thoughts in my blog.

While reviewing my work, you’re going to see a lot of work related to the bike industry. While it has been a labor of love, it’s a category I wasn’t expecting to find myself in. However, I’ve found relevance to fashion, technical design, lifestyle, editorial and so many other facets of design. When coming up with concepts, we often look outside of our industry to create the best work. It’s often too easy to be stuck in your own category and not evolve beyond.

This site is currently a work in progress. While I stay up late organizing back end of this site with content you can review a sample of my work in the links below—a digital tear sheet in Figma that should give a glimpse into what I’ve been getting into the last couple of years.

I truly appreciate you taking the time to review my work. More to come.

I am currently taking on new projects related to art direction and creative direction for new & established brands in the outdoor & lifestyle space.

Welcome.
